Servant of Christ FAQs

Q. What makes this workbook different from others?

A. It is written by a practicing mental health clinician and not someone with a background in theology. Just as a clinician is always concerned with the health and well-being of his client, this workbook is written with the best interests of the client and not with any institution in mind.

Q. How can you write this if you have no training in Theology?

A. Servant of Christ is more about spiritual and personal growth, which is my purview, background and training, than it is about religion.

Q. Is Servant of Christ effective for everyone?

A. Yes, the material is written to be beneficial to a wide range of personalities and situations.

Q. You are a Roman Catholic. Is Servant of Christ written only for Roman Catholics?

A. Not at all. Anybody who values biblical teachings will enjoy the benefits of this workbook.

Q. Aren’t the teachings of St. Paul rather obscure?

A. They are! That is why I felt drawn to write this workbook. It contains a lot of valuable information that may otherwise escape most people.

Q. Doesn’t writing a book like this amount to telling people what to believe?

A. Not at all; people are entitled to believe whatever they wish. I’m just trying to raise some points that may be worthwhile and profitable to consider.

Q. Is it true that St. Paul wrote that God loved us no matter what?

A. Yes, that’s why I refer to his teachings as a scandal: they turn convention wisdom about God’s love upside down. This is one of the main themes of the workbook.

Q. How does this workbook work?

A. The workbook consists of four sections: some of Paul’s most important teachings, my own illustrative fictional narratives, questions to ponder and supplemental readings. The text provides the information while the narratives illustrate and augment the text. The food-for-thought sections and supplemental readings reinforce critical take-away points.

Q. From where are the course materials drawn?

A. From two sources: the New Testament and my own thirty years of clinical experience.

Q. What qualifications do you hold for writing this workbook?

A. I have a Master’s Degree in counseling, am a licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of New York (Retired) and have over thirty years of successful clinical experience.
